Cheers for Volunteers

Hey, look!  It's the "Cheers for Volunteers" pre-parade now running at the Magic Kingdom.  It's all designed to celebrate those individuals who contributed to their communities and in return earned a ticket to a Disney theme park.  That's very noble and all, but you know what I'm more interested in... the Disney Girls!

Since the volunteering campaign was tied to the Muppets, Kermit and Miss Piggy lead the procession.  Far be it for me to lump Piggy into the category of "Girl."  No, she's all woman!  Love the dress and her new 'do... and those gloves are a nice tough, too.

Of course, the parade also features dancers like this pig-tailed cutie, dressed up and ready to go to work.  Who needs Handy Manny?  I'd be happy to have her come to my house to fix whatever is broken.  

Work it, girl!

Flying Fast Into Our Hearts

There's a new fairy in the Kingdom, and she's a sassy one!  Vidia is the "fast flying" fairy from the series of Tinker Bell movies.  Apparently, she plays a larger role in the upcoming release, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.  Fine by me.  Blondes may have more fun, but I've always had a thing for brunettes, especially those with nice... wings!  

So as the travel writers say, "If you go..." expect to meet Vidia and Tinker Bell in the Fairytale Pavilion section of Mickey's Toontown Fair in the Magic Kingdom. You'll also usually meet a third fairy, but that spot rotates between (left to right below) Iridessa, Fawn, Rosetta and Silvermist.

Sometimes they throw that guy Terence in the mix, too, but let's not think about him.  Let's just stay here and gaze at the girls a while instead.

Celebrate Good Times

It's 3:00 at Hollywood Studios and time for a party!  As Block Party Bash rolls down the street, you know it's going to be a good time - just look at how short those skirts are!  It's always nice when Disney costume designers throw a bone to the Dads in the audience.

It may be 100 degrees out, but these girls are all smiles and energy.  You've never seen anyone who looks so happy to shake their groove thangs for you!  Did I mention there are skip stilts and trampolines, too?  Sure, it's mostly guys on those, but not always. 

Here and there, they even have some of those short-skirted girls up on floats.  Yes, it's sexy... but it's Disney sexy, which still means pretty wholesome.

Once a Disney Girl...

So apparently something called "Hellcats" is a new show starting next month on the CW (is that still on the air?).  The print ad got my interest, but then I did a double-take.  That's a couple Disney Girls... 

It's Ashley Tisdale (from High School Musical and "The Suite Life of Zach & Cody") and Alyson Michalka (of Aly & AJ and Cow Belles), all growed up and playing cheerleaders.  When does this come on again?  Sign me up!

The Fairest of Them All

What better way to start this blog than with Annette Funicello, the original Disney Girl.  From the moment she flashed that smile on "The Mickey Mouse Club," boys all across America were hooked.  Okay, so they were 12-year-old boys, but still. As they grew up, so did she!
